Demure Roarrrrrrrrrrrr....

Hello Rose Heads!  Since leopard print is all the rage...wait...when HASN'T it been?  I decided to throw on my INC Dolman sleeved top with my new Bodycon skirt from Forever 21.  Let me just say, I was skeptical when I bought this skirt.  I mean, it was $10.00.  What do you expect right?  Well, it's pretty awesome.  Sooo...I belted my dolman top, threw on some leopard shoes and kept it moving.  Now since I used a red belt...you would think I would have paired it with a red shoe.  That's what you get for thinking because I don't own a single red shoe.  GASP!  I've got to do better.  Trust...they're coming.  Until then...check out the fit as is!

I thought it came together quite nicely!

Remember my brooch earrings from my Thrifty Thangs post?  Here they are in full effect!

Yaay for thrifted items!

Sup Rose Heads?  I'm getting caught up on my outfit ("Fit") sharing.  How far do you take casual Fridays at work?  I take them to the limit!  I work for an Architecture firm and the dress code is pretty relaxed so, I feel comfortable doing me.  Check it...

Oooh y'all I like these New York and Company ankle jean pants!  They make my thighs look RIGHT!  Do you hear me? LOL!  I love the boxy tops because I don't always want everything to be form fitting you know?  Let the stomach and the tatas breathe!

I don't care how much baby oil gel I put on my feet in the mornings, I still get that "ash mark" from these shoes.  Sigh...I'm not going to complain.  I love these Jessica Simpson sling back wedges.  It's like walking on stilts but, they look great!

And yes, those are peacock feathers on my big toes! I love funky nail art.

Alright...that's all for now!

My, What Red LIPS You Have...

I'm back Rose Heads!  I'm sharing my outfit from Saturday.  Now, I'm still a novice at taking relaxed, candid and flawless photos for this here blog.  I'm working at it and drinking milk...soon I'll be strong...lol...you get the point.

I consider myself in the wardrobe building phase.  I have a lot of cute pieces but, I'm just now (in my opinion) figuring out how to put myself together.  So, this is my way of chronicling my process to full fashion realization.  That's deep...but, that's real.  Check it...

There were other photos but, this was the best.  This outfit was cool and comfortable...good for Saturday thrifting!

I have been telling myself for the longest that I would buy some red lipstick.  Now, folks have given me the names of a lot of pricey lipsticks.  I'm sorry but, I'm not going to spend $14 - $20.00 for no lipstick!  So, I went to the good ol' Walgreen's and bought some Revlon, Really Red.  Let me tell you...it is really red and I love it!  It also has a Matte finish so it just pops to me....check it...

Thrifty Thangs...

What's up Rose Heads?  Did you have a peaceful, powerful and productive weekend (don't judge my alliteration!)?  I did!  I went on a thrifting spree!  I had a $50.00 budget and I knew I had to buy two night stands with it (they'll be featured in a later post).  My budget for the night stands was $20.00 so, really I had a good $30.00 to spend on ME, house wares and stuff for the Washington men.  Sooo...let's check out my "journey".

First, I went to Value Village on Highway 5 in Douglasville, GA.  Douglasville is a suburb to the West of Atlanta.  It's my forever home (we closed on our house this past May).  So, naturally, I wanted to see what I could see because the store is so close to home.

The sky was so blue on Saturday!  It was like I was being willed to go and shop!

I found a few nice things here.  Check 'em out:

First are my uber Jackie O./Michelle O. brooch earrings...

I wore these today and they pinch the hell out of my ears!  I'm going to have to buy the little pads that go on clip-ons.  But, they're still funky fab!

Next is my cranberry, eel skin clutch...

This bag actually has straps but, I tucked them to make it more of a clutch.  I love it!

I found this blazer in a size14 in PRISTINE condition!  The pic-stitching is lovely too.  It's a charcoal brown color.  Just right for the impending Fall season...
It has a tailored fit and the fabric is light weight and it's fully lined.

Next up is this lovely oval mirror.  The frame around it has a textured snake skin pattern...
I plan on painting this and putting it in my foyer.  For $4.94...it was a steal!

I want to make a picture frame collage in my sitting area.  These frames were $0.40 each...

Excuse my toes in the photo! LOL!  I am going to start editing the photos I put out here you guys...just not today!

Well, that's all I bought from Value Village.  I spent $16.40 in all!  Can you believe that? What a great haul!

Next I ventured to two more thrift stores that weren't really hittin' on anything.  I mean, they were cool but, eh...too expensive.

BUT...then, I went to the Good Will on Fairburn Road in Douglasville.  THAT'S where I bought the night stands (which I will show in a later post) and this killer vintage skirt and Banana Republic blouse!

WHAT!  Do you see this?  It is so super cute and so super vintage.  It's fully lined and it has a comfortable elastic waist.  I don't just love this...I LURVE it!

Okay and this is the last piece I found...

This is Banana Republic...so cute and Summery...pure awesomeness right?  I know!  That's what I said!

Well, that's all for now.  Thank you for stopping by!  I appreciate you!

Rochelle

Singing into the mic...

When I was a little girl, I would sing into whatever I deemed microphone worthy in my bedroom mirror.  I would be blowing too!  You couldn't tell me a damn thing!  Then, I grew up and realized that, apparently a million other little girls were doing the same thing and I wasn't as innovative as I had previously thought.  Oops.  Well.guess.freakin'.what?  I still do that!  Yes, at the ripe old age of THIRTY...I still sing into a pretend microphone.
I mostly do it in my car because I'm scared for my husband to catch me.  I mean, will he think I'm lame?  Will he think I've reverted back to my childhood state?  Will he LAUGH?  So...I do it in my car.  I don't care if people look at me!  I don't know them folks!  Plus...I KNOW I sound good!  Typically, I would insert an "lol" there but...I know I sound good.

Here is the thing...I totally want to be a singer!  I mean, I don't need to be famous or whatever but, I want to make music and share it with the world...via the Internet...not really having to deal with lots of folks (see previous post).  I'm going to start recording more YouTube videos...straight up...for reals.  Here is one...

I'm Still in 6th Grade...

It is totally okay to want friends.  It's okay to long for that kind of companionship that bolsters your self confidence and gives you allies that you know you can lean on at any time.  It's okay to want to share secrets, experiences and laughs...heartaches.  It's okay to sit on the phone not really talking about anything but, saying so much.  All of it is okay.

But...I'm not a good friend.  I don't call or come over or hang-out...well, not much.  I don't inquire about daily activities and muse over milestones.  I don't share in the harsh times and revel in the successes.  Well...not frequently.

I don't like to hug.  I don't like when someone is laughing and they pat you on the back.  I don't like when people touch you while they are speaking to you.  You know like "Girl that show is so funny...ha,ha,ha" *insert shoulder tap* I don't like those things.  If I'm comfortable with a person, I don't mind but, I'm only comfortable with a select few.  I tolerate the rest.

I have been asked many times what it is about not wanting to be too close to people.  What I have surmised after many hours of contemplation (maybe like one hour) is becoming close to people puts them in striking distance of your heart.  I don't have time for that...heartache, drama, nonsensical foolery...no time.  I have friends.  They work with me.  They don't complain (well most don't) and they don't judge (at least I don't think they do).  And I appreciate that.

But, you know what?  Sometimes I feel jealous of all the sister-friend relationships I see proudly displayed on Facebook.  There are BFFs and BFFFs and BFFFFFFs...and that's special.  It is.  They hang out and say hi and I love you for no reason and co-sign on each other's whatever i.e. status updates, meme postings, likes...etc.  That seems awesome...for them.  But, they're doing the work to have those relationships.  I know I'm not going to do the work.  Eh...what are you gonna do?

So, on some days...like today...I'm longing for one of the popular girls to invite me to eat at their table.  So, we can become BFFFFFFs, have slumber parties, share clothes, and secrets...and FB memes.
